This condominium remodel was born from the devastating effects of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana. Although the damage was relatively minimal, a full scale remodel ensued. Space planning was centered on incorporating the expansive view of the Mississippi River and downtown New Orleans into everyday life. Truly a custom piece, the mural maps out the far reaching travels and special memories of the homeowners. A personal request from the homeowners was to incorporate the jazz photographs of Herman Leonard; a special tribute to the great jazz musicians of New Orleans. Great care was taken by Margie, Lauren and the homeowner to support local businesses during this process. As a result, much of the antique furniture, decorative artwork, custom cabinetry and construction materials were acquired in New Orleans and the surrounding areas.
